Where the form appears, and the cart checkout button (Form placement)

Quick Overview

Product pages only, the whole store including the cart, or the cart only — and which theme buttons to hide.

Go to Settings → Advanced → Form placement.

Choose a placement

  • Product pages only — the classic form beside the buy buttons. The cart is untouched.
  • Whole store — the form on product pages, plus a COD button above the Checkout button in the cart page and the cart drawer. It opens the COD form holding everything in the cart: one cash on delivery order for all of it.
  • Cart page only — no form on product pages (the theme’s own buttons stay); only cart checkouts get the COD button.

Product offers (tiers, bundles, cross-sell, upsells) always stay on product pages. The cart form carries the fields, shipping, the coupon and add-on services. After a cart order, the cart is emptied.

Hide theme buttons

  • Hide the theme’s Add to cart button — Buy it now is always replaced by the COD form; turn this on to make cash on delivery the only way to order. Leave it off if you also sell prepaid through the normal checkout.
  • Hide the theme’s Checkout button — hides Shopify’s Checkout in the cart and drawer. With Whole store or Cart page only, the COD button stays above it.
  • Hide the theme’s Buy it now button (Cart page only) — so every order goes through the cart, where the COD button opens the form.

Stretch the form to the full width

Most themes cap the width of the buy-button area, and the form sits inside it. Stretch the form to the full width clears that cap, up to the width of the product column. The theme’s own Add to cart widens with it.

Moving the form on the product page

The form takes the place of the theme’s Buy it now button. To put it somewhere else on the page without moving the theme’s buttons, add the CODPrem form block in the theme editor, or type [codprem] in the page’s content. See Landing pages, the CODPrem form block and [codprem].
